ITU Employee of the Month Award

ITU Employee of the Month Award

The Employee of the Month Program was established to provide recognition to ITU employees for their outstanding contributions to the ITU. The ITU Employee of the Month Award seeks to recognize ITU staff members who demonstrate:

  • a positive and energetic attitude about their work for the ITU,
  • a willingness to share knowledge and experience with others in the organization,
  • a commitment to the mission of the ITU, and
  • a positive image of the ITU within the university community.

How to nominate someone

Administrative faculty, classified, and wage employees can be nominated by any faculty or staff member at George Mason. Nominees must be employed by the ITU for at least one year and be in good standing (that is, have no active disciplinary notices) in order to be eligible. To submit a nomination, complete the quick and easy ITU Employee of the Month nomination form.

In order to be considered for a given month, nominations must be received in the Coordinator's Office no later than the close of business on the 1st of the preceding month. Otherwise, the nomination will be considered for future months. Also, a candidate must receive at least three nominations in order to be considered for the ITU Employee of the Month. Nominations remain in the pool of candidates for one year. If a nomination is not acted upon within twelve months, the ITU coordinator will check with the nominator regarding further action (that is, withdrawal, resubmission, or modification).

Awards

Awards for the Employee of the Month are presented to the recipient and include (but are not restricted to): a $200 cash award, $50 gas card, the inclusion of his/her name on the ITU Employee of the Month plaque which is displayed in the VPIT's office area, an ITU EOM pin, and a framed certificate for permanent display in the employee's departmental area.

Committee

The Committee consists of ITU employees from various departments within the ITU. Wage employees who work more than 20 hours per week are eligible to serve on the committee, provided their supervisor approves. The Director of the Administrative Services Department provides overall coordination for the committee's work and serves as a non-voting ex-officio member.
